Ultrasound

Ultrasound is delivered by a specialized unit using a sound head that the therapist applies to the area of the body being treated.  The sound waves produced are passed into the body through a conductive medium such as gel or water.  The depth of the sound waves is controlled by setting the desired frequency.  The intensity of the sound waves is also controlled by the therapist depending on the desired outcome.

Ultrasound may be used for:

·         Pain control

·         Decreasing inflammation

·         Promoting tissue healing

·         Increasing blood circulation

·         Decreasing muscle spasm
